A good day with these results!

I have had a 'busy' social life since coming out of hospital with visitors every day - last night was the first time Anth and I were in the apartment alone as his Father had been staying - as none of us were really expecting for my 'release' last Wednesday.

I was very tired on Thursday, but decided to walk to the end of the driveway on Friday before visitors arrived. I got to the end of the driveway to the end of the driveway and was feeling good - it was so nice to be outside, in the fresh air so I decided to see how many houses I could pass, and then build on that each day. Before I knew it, I was at the end of the street and then turned around for the uphill (only slight) walk back. Anyhow, I made it and felt OK. The heat of an afternoon is preventing me from doing much walking of an afternoon.

I have fallen into a routine of waking, taking one tablet, wait an hour to have breakfast which somewhere between 11 - 13 tablets to go with it. Go for walk, come back and rest. Around 12.30 - 1.00pm have lunch, one pill on the side, and then let lunch digest a bit. By about 2- 3pm I'm ready for a nap which is about 45 - 60 min. Then up, snack, have a shower where I am still doing some leg exercises, rest and eat dinner around 6.30- 7.00pm! Exciting stuff!!

Today threw all that out of wack as it was clinic visit day. Now, we had been warned a number of times that it'll be a lot of waiting - and they weren't wrong! We got to the hospital around 8.05 to take a number to get bloods taken. I was No.11 and it took a while, but I the first number I heard called was No. 6. 2 hours later my number finally got called. From there you then move to the Day Clinic waiting room where you check in and sit down to wait again. It was nearly an hour and one of the nurses grabbed me and we went through weight, blood pressure etc and questions about what I'm eating etc. Then back to the waiting room. Another hour + the Dr calls us in and I get the blood results (very happy with them today).

So of course this is only my first clinic, and I haven't been out of the hospital a whole week yet - and I start asking when I can go home, as the normal expectation is that you are here at least up to day +90 - which means I am only a 3rd of the way through it. I was told that there might be some flexibility between day 60 & 90 but nothing before then as this 1st 3 months is the time that acute GVHD can flair up at anytime - so that might require daily visits to the hospital etc - so if we were to move home, we would lose the apartment and it would be problematic if we had to travel down every day (which is true!).

So once again, learning to be patient, but plan to stay as well as possible. Still need to build up strength and stamina again - but each day feeling a bit better. Once I can out and about more (and the temperature outside drops), I am sure this might get more enjoyable.

I will only post now every Monday after my clinic visit as otherwise there is not much else to report except a routine of eating, sleeping and doing some walking!
