Another hopeful start to the day having woken up feeling a bit better and actually was Ok for about an hour. Throat is still sore, and lips covered in even more blood - but in an effort to try and clean them up a bit a large chunk of the blood has come away and a great deal of relief is felt.
Unfortunately the more 'perky' feeling does not last long - a combination of no food for the last 3 days (plus days of vomiting and diarrhea) and the medications leaves me somewhat zonked and I again enter a semi-comatose state until about 2.30pm.
Of course the Dr's visit during this time and I have to admit I am a bit confused with what is discussed, but still trying to argue to get this NG tube out! It was agreed (confirmed with me later) that today I am now allowed on clear fluids and tomorrow things will be reviewed but NG tube unlikely to come out until at least the day after (Thursday) if I can prove I can eat etc.
My push for the NG tube to come out again was from the 'incident' this morning. The nurse flushed the NG tube - a horrible sensation that makes me start gagging with the feeling of stuff going through the tube down the back of the throat. So with that all done, I have some capsules to take which I have been managing, but it takes take a bit of effort - mental mainly I think- to get the tablet down.
So I go through the normal process, - drink a bit of water, then the capsule with water and envisage it going down. As I swallow, it always feels it gets stuck about half way down (where I feel like there is a lump in my throat) so I swallow again. Things started going a bit awry.
I didn't know it at the time, but the cap on the NG tube has popped off and I know have what is like a slimely snot coming out all over me, the pillows and blanket. I start gagging and it is like a vacuum has been created somehow and - well - just Yuck!
The following capsules took me sometime after that before they went down.
Had a period of 'alertness; from about 2.30 for about an hour or so, but then again, so tired, and just needed to sleep up until about 8.00pm. Had another temp spike in that time - so it started, just as panadol was being hung - so woke up as the temp was coming down and sweating away.
Feeling a bit better now and hoping for a better night sleep than last night and that tomorrow will continue to get better than today.
