Visitor 'Rules'

Here are just some of the 'rules' they gave us today that I am going to jot down here as many people have been asking me...

* Visiting hours are pretty much all day EXCEPT 2-4pm. However, they said that if you were already here they would not throw you out.

* The guideline is 2 adults at any one time (so no parties!). However, they said they would allow 3-4 as long as it doesn't get too loud! The room could not hold any more than that anyhow - so not sure if this is a health or space requirement!

* No Flowers are permitted

* No one with a cold or flu or even a sniffle is allowed in - or even if you have been around someone in the few days prior who has a cold or flu.

* The ward is sealed and you must wash your hands before you are admitted.

* Once in the ward and on arrival at my room, you go into a 'foyer' area where you need to put on a plastic gown. All the signs up say you need to wear a mask as well, but they actually didn't tell us that today - so I will try and find out some more tomorrow.

My chemo starts 12th Dec and continues until the 21 Dec. For the first week it is expected that I will be feeling OKish, and then start to feel lousy after that as I start one drug that potentially causes seizures (although they give me another drug to try and prevent them!)

I am aiming to try and post each day, but if there is nothing, then that's a pretty good indication that I am feeling pretty lousy!

So, I think that is about all I can think of for the moment...
