Anth is writing this for me as my eyes continue to be unreliable (stuffed) and remain a little sore. My eyes do feel a little better than yesterday but think this is due to me keeping them closed for much of the day, so it has been a long day of listening to the TV and drifting in and out of sleep. Thank goodness I had a visitor today which helped pass the time.
So I learned from my CT scan that my body is essentially in fluid overload with veins bulging under the pressure. There is fluid around the outside of my lungs (preventing me from taking large breathes) and an enlarged gall bladder.
I was booked in to have an ultrasound today which meant NIL by mouth from midnight last night, although they could not tell me the time of the appointment until mid-morning.
I saw the medical team who checked everything & did spend a lot of time looking at my eyes although they were unable to pinpoint anything so I presume it is a side effect of the chemo.
To see an Opthalmologist means being moved by Patient Transport to John Hunter Hospital which of course is a risk due to my neutropenia - the joys of the system!
I headed down to the ultrasound around 11:00am which essentially confirmed that I have plenty of fluid on board. I suppose the effort is for me to reduce the fluid over coming days; at least there is no infection.
Spent the afternoon in and out of sleep to wake with possibly the best appetite I have had for 10 days. Polished off a roast pork & stewed apple toasted sandwich then 10 minutes later felt like bringing it all back up again. Time to call the nurse for some Cyclazine!
I received a gift for Audiobook and have activated my account ready to make a selection as reading is impossible.
