Day 10: a moment of clarity!

Weight: 68.3. More fluids!

So today began again in much the same way - feeling sleepy, nauseated and not wanting to do anything, and definitely not wanting to eat.

Had a shower around 10.00am and then climbed back into bed. Mum & Dad came for a visit and stayed until 11.30am and after that I curled up for a sleep. Again, was cold, so had tracksuit pants on, socks, 4 blankets and was trying to keep warm. I did fall asleep for a while and then when temperature was taken, it had hit 38 again! Magic number means blood cultures taken. Panadol is still effective and as my temp comes down - I get hot and start kicking everything off, sucking on ice to try and cool down! Now that all that has happened - its now 3.00pm and I feel the best I have since after the first day. So much better that I ate some cereal (and have kept it down).

Dr's came in and went through everything again today. Check lungs, fluid retention, PICC line etc etc. Given I've put on 4kg thanks to fluid load, they are going to give me a pill to help get rid of the fluid - which just means getting to the bathroom! That means unhooking the pump I am attached to, walking around the bed and into the bathroom - so I hope with this tablet there will be enough warning for me to get to where I need to be!

Diarrhea has also started (sorry for over sharing) but not too bad at this stage - so once over the temperature blip earlier - things looking a bit better.

Dietitian came in today and I discovered there was a whole 'secret' menu at the hospital that I can order from - where was that 4 days ago! Some of the info I had an idea about, but she gave me some things to think about and what might hit the spot down the track.

Thanks to the visitors tonight.

Unfortunately nausea has now hit big time.

Have another dose of chemo tonight - so will see what tomorrow brings.
